Edinboro University Planetarium’s popular spring semester schedule continues March 1

‘Legends of the Night Sky’

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro University’s Planetarium continues its popular spring semester schedule on Thursday, March 1, with “Legends of the Night Sky.”

This educational and entertaining program will explore the “battle” of our night sky and feature constellations such as Orion and the Scorpion.

The Edinboro Planetarium is a multi-functional facility that serves students and the surrounding community. Managed by Dr. David Hurd, the planetarium has gained a reputation for providing some of the most engaging and educational programs available.

“Legends of the Night Sky” will be repeated on Tuesday, April 10.

In addition to “Legends of the Night Sky” the spring semester schedule features another program, “The Venus Transit,” which is a once in a lifetime event. The transit of Venus across the sun takes place when the planet Venus passes directly between the Sun and the Earth. This event, which takes place in June, will not occur again for more than a century.

“The Venus Transit” program will be offered at the planetarium on Tuesday, April 24 and Tuesday, May 22.

All programs are held in Edinboro’s Planetarium, located in the newly renovated Cooper Science Hall, at 7 p.m. While admission is free and the programs are open to the public, reservations are required as space is limited.
