Edinboro University will host 14th Annual Health and Wellness Fair on April 4

‘The First Wealth is Health’

EDINBORO, Pa. – In keeping with Edinboro University’s traditional commitment to the health and well-being of its students, faculty and staff, the University on Wednesday, April 4 will host its 14h Annual Health and Wellness Fair.

The fair’s 2012 edition promises to be bigger and better than ever before, offering something of interest to everyone, according to University health care professionals.

Sponsored by Edinboro University’s Student Health Services, the fair starts at 11 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m. in the Frank G. Pogue Student Center’s Multipurpose Room.

The event, which is free and open to the entire campus and Edinboro community, is themed, “The First Wealth is Health.”

This year’s Health Fair will feature live demonstrations of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, personal safety strategies and martial arts, and acupuncture pressure points.

Nearly 80 vendors representing local health organizations and businesses have signed up to take part in this major annual spring event. Last year, more than 600 Edinboro University students, faculty and staff, as well as community members, attended the Health Fair. This year, organizers hope to exceed even that number as vendors offer free massages, product samples and other various health and wellness information designed to get participants feeling and looking their best.

As in previous years, Edinboro University employees who are participating in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s “Healthy U” program will also earn points for attending the event.

In addition, every participant will have a chance to win a basket of prizes simply by visiting 18 or more displays or vendors.

During the event, staff from Student Health Services will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items, used glasses and cell phones. All donated items will be returned to community organizations for distribution to those in need.

Also during the Health Fair, the Erie Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive as part of the event. Attendees who donate blood and/or donate other items will be eligible to receive additional tickets to win prize baskets.
