High school seniors invited to find their future at Explore Edinboro

07/23/2013

High school seniors can get a jump start on their college selection process – and even seek admission to Edinboro University on the spot – at Explore Edinboro on Friday, Aug. 9.

Director of Admissions Craig Grooms said Explore Edinboro gives students an opportunity to do just what the name implies: explore the many excellent programs and other appealing features of the region’s largest and most comprehensive institution of higher education.

“Some rising high school seniors know exactly what they want in higher education and are ready to put the admissions step behind them,” Grooms said. “Others are still testing the waters and might not know all that Edinboro University offers, both in academic programs and in other opportunities to grow personally while preparing for their chosen profession.”

Explore Edinboro activities will get under way at 10 a.m. in the Frank G. Pogue Student Center. Prospective students will hear from and have an opportunity to speak with a panel of faculty members and current students. The event also includes campus tours and lunch.

Participants who complete an application and submit their transcripts and ACT/SAT scores can get an admission decision on the spot. Their application fees will be waived as well.

All students are welcome to attend Explore Edinboro, Grooms said, and on-the-spot admission is provided simply as a convenience to students who want to solidify their plans early. Those who are in the beginning stages of their explorations in higher education also can benefit from participating, he said.

“We hope that students find our Explore Edinboro event useful in answering any questions that might be holding them back in their decisions about college,” he said. “Of course, we also expect that they’ll find that Edinboro has exactly what they’re looking for in an institution of higher education.”

With a choice of 70 bachelor’s and 10 associate degree programs, Edinboro University provides students the area’s widest choice of undergraduate majors in an atmosphere in which excellence and student success are emphasized. Affordable value, an accomplished faculty, and location in a small town with easy access to larger cities are just a few of the University’s additional outstanding attributes.

Students interested in participating in Explore Edinboro can register online at edinboro.edu or call toll-free: (888) 8GO-BORO, Ext. 2761.
