Edinboro University construction, infrastructure upgrades will shut down Tech Operations Center over the weekend


The ongoing Ross Hall renovation/construction project, combined with technology infrastructure upgrades, will cause the shutdown of Edinboro University’s Technology Operations Center March 16-18, creating sustained weekend interruption to video, voice and data services.

Edinboro students are currently enjoying their spring break until classes resume on Monday, but they, along with faculty and staff, have been informed by e-mail and via the University’s website at to expect outages of the MyEdinboro Portal, Cable TV, telephone, network, WiFi, and a reduced cellular signal.

Visitors to Edinboro University’s website are also alerted to the technology interruptions over the coming weekend. Loss of technology services are as follows:

 Friday, March 16:

About 2 p.m., Banner, SCOTS, the Academics and Finance Tabs in MyEdinboro, and online payments will be unavailable. Cable TV will become unavailable between 2 and 4 p.m. and MyEdinboro may be unavailable for brief periods. At 4 p.m., networking and the Internet will power off, including phone services, Wi-Fi, and access to servers housed in the Tech Ops Center. Cell towers will also lose connectivity; however, reduced services should be available from regional towers. 

During these outages, an alternate site will be maintained with information and links to Internet-based sites, such as MyEdinboro. These will only be available from OFF-CAMPUS as buildings on campus will not have connectivity. MyEdinboro services, such as Desire 2 Learn, ESS, and Live@edu may be working, but accessing them during this period should be avoided. Phone numbers in service will be 732-2911 (Police Emergency Number), and 732-2921 (Police General Number). For Tech Support during the time the campus phone system is unavailable (Friday evening through Saturday evening) please call 814-881-2102. Tech Alerts via the e2Campus Tech Alert system will also be transmitted to those who have previously signed up for this service.

Saturday, March 17:

During the evening, services available via Internet are expected to be restored, including phone,, Exchange e-mail, SCOTS, and Banner. Services to campus buildings will be reinstated as work progresses.

Sunday March 18:

Tech services should be restored by 4 p.m. For assistance, the Technology Help Center will be open Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. and can be reached at 732-2111.
