Award-winning Director Jake Mahaffy highlights screenings and workshops at Edinboro University March 26-27

Edinboro Film Series’ ‘Spotlight Filmmaker’

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro Film Series, in cooperation with the Edinboro University Student Government Association, has announced the “Spotlight Filmmaker” for the Series spring program is renowned director Jake Mahaffy.

Mahaffy will host two evenings of his award-winning short and feature films on Monday, March 26, and Tuesday, March 27. He’ll also conduct two Tuesday workshops on campus.

Having filmed many of his works in Pennsylvania, Mahaffy was named one of the “25 New Faces of Independent Film” by Filmmaker Magazine. His films have been selected multiple times for top-tier festivals such as Sundance and Rotterdam, winning numerous global awards. At the 2008 IFP Gotham Awards, for example, his film, “Wellness,” screening at Edinboro on Monday, was nominated for Best Undistributed Film of the Year.

Mahaffy also received an Eastman Product Grant and Kodak Student Filmmakers’ Stock Grant, among others, to produce his film “War,” screening at Edinboro on Tuesday.

Tickets are now available for all events at EdinboroTickets.com, Edinboro Film Series Screenings, the Edinboro University Student Government Association Convenience Store, located on the 2nd Floor of the Pogue Student Center, and at the door. The upcoming Edinboro Film Series’ schedule is as follows:

Films on Monday, March26:

Location: Frank G. Pogue Student Center Multipurpose Room
Time: 8:30 p.m.
Films: “Wellness”; feature film, with shorts, “Inertia” and “Miracle Boy” (work-in-progress)

A question and answer period will be held each evening.

Films on Tuesday, March 27:

Location: Frank G. Pogue Student Center Multipurpose Room
Time: 8:30 p.m.
Films:  “War”; feature film, with shorts “Gravity” and “Egypt Hollow,”

Workshops on Tuesday, March 27: 

Location: Pogue Frank G. Pogue Student Center Scot Theatre
Time: Noon-2 p.m. – “No Budget Filmmaking” workshop with Jake Mahaffy
Time: 3-5 p.m. – “Directing Actors” workshop with Jake Mahaffy
