Edinboro University named a ‘Great College to Work For®’

Edinboro University is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education.

The results, released July 21 in The Chronicle’s seventh annual report on The Academic Workplace, are based on a survey of more than 43,000 employees at 278 colleges and universities.

Edinboro University is one of only 92 institutions achieving “Great College to Work For®” recognition for specific best practices and policies. Results are reported for small, medium, and large institutions, with Edinboro included among the medium universities with 3,000 to 9,999 students.

Edinboro earned recognition in the Compensation & Benefits category.

“Excellence in all we do is a core value of Edinboro University,” said President Julie E. Wollman. “The ‘Great Colleges to Work For’ results affirm a key area where we excel, and even more importantly, participating in the survey also helps us learn where we can improve workplace satisfaction. Our shared commitment to continual improvement and student success is what truly makes Edinboro University a great place to work.”

The Chronicle is one of the nation’s most important sources of news about colleges and universities.

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captured demographics and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.

To administer the survey and analyze the results, The Chronicle worked with ModernThink LLC, a strategic human capital consulting firm that has conducted numerous “Best Places to Work” programs, surveying hundreds of thousands of employees nationwide.

Great Colleges to Work For® is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country. For more information and to view all the results of the survey, visit The Chronicle’s website at
