Edinboro University welcomes Guilbert L. Brown as Vice President for Finance and Administration

Edinboro University announced June 25 that Guilbert L. Brown will join the University as Vice President for Finance and Administration. Mr. Brown brings years of experience in university finance and planning to his new role as a vital member of President Julie E. Wollman’s executive leadership team.

“I am delighted that Gil Brown will be joining our team at the end of July,” President Wollman said. “He brings extensive professional experience in higher education and is a nationally recognized expert in leading strategic financial management and institutional planning.”

Mr. Brown comes to Edinboro from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., where he was Assistant Vice President, Budget and Planning, and Chief Budget Officer.

Prior to joining George Mason University in 2006, he was a financial analyst for Columbian College of George Washington University and director of the Office of Budget and Fiscal Planning at Oregon State University, in addition to other staff and consulting roles in higher education. He also has contributed chapters to several books, as well as producing webinars, workshops and presentations related to institutional leadership, finances, budget planning and management, and strategic enrollment management.

He is a graduate of the University of Denver and earned a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from George Mason University.

“His commitment to excellence and his collaborative approach will make him a valued colleague,” President Wollman said of Mr. Brown. “I look forward to working with him to position Edinboro for a strong future. I am very pleased that he is equally eager to join our team.”

Mr. Brown is one of three key additions to the Edinboro University administration and staff this summer.

Christopher P. LaRusso on June 23 began work as the University’s Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Services. In this important role in the recruitment and success of students, he will direct the Admissions Office and also oversee the Financial Aid Office.

Mr. LaRusso came to Edinboro from Eastern Michigan University, where as interim director of admissions he led his department in recruiting record freshman classes in 2012 and 2013. His previous experience included admissions roles at State University of New York institutions in Buffalo and Fredonia, and at St. Bonaventure University.

He is a graduate of St. Bonaventure and earned a Master of Business Administration in Technology Management from the State University of New York Institute of Technology in Utica, N.Y.

Also joining Edinboro this month is Matthew Cettin, Director of Institutional Research and Assessment. In this role, he will lead the development of a comprehensive institutional research program to support the University's mission and strategic goals. His responsibilities will include collecting, analyzing, and disseminating a wide range of academic and financial data.

Mr. Cettin previously held similar roles at the State University of New York at Fredonia and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie.

He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, earned a master’s degree in Institutional Research and Planning from Drexel University, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Organizational Learning and Leadership at Gannon University in Erie.

President Wollman noted, “With these three outstanding additions to our team we are poised for great success.”
