PASSHE Board of Governors approves MBA program at Edinboro University

Innovative delivery method will meet the needs of working professionals

          January 25, 2018

Building on the success of historically strong undergraduate business programs, Edinboro University has received approval from the Board of Governors of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education to launch a Master of Business Administration.

The new program, which is designed to break down the silos found in traditional MBA programs and focus on the decision-making process across functions, will prepare students for key roles in business. The program is anticipated to be offered beginning in January 2019.

Unlike most MBA programs, students will have the option to attend classes on campus or online – either synchronously or asynchronously – on a class-by-class basis. The program will also be offered in an accelerated format, which will allow students to complete an MBA in as little as one calendar year.

“This innovative delivery method will allow working professionals to attend classes in a manner that meets their individual needs,” said Dr. Scott Miller, Dean of EU’s School of Business. “If a student prefers to attend class in person, they will have that option. If they cannot make it to class, they can participate in a live, online environment or access the class online at their convenience.”

With the introduction of the program, undergraduate business majors who have met certain course requirements will have the option to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an MBA in just five years.

“Edinboro University is pleased to receive approval to offer an MBA with such delivery flexibility,” said Dr. Erinn Lake, executive director of EU’s School of Graduate Studies and Research. “We are confident it will meet the needs of our region by providing an affordable and flexible MBA option for working adults and continuing undergraduate students.”

According to research conducted by the Education Advisory Board (EAB), there is a skills gap in Erie County that is unmet by current MBA programs. Edinboro University continues to fulfill its role as a public regional comprehensive University by responding to the evolving workforce needs of the region.

EU’s nationally-accredited School of Business currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with concentrations in accounting, comprehensive business administration, finance, forensic accounting and fraud examination, international business, personal financial planning and marketing. Additional offerings include a Bachelor of Science in Economics, an associate degree in business administration and minor programs in economics and business administration.

Information about enrolling in the MBA program or any of Edinboro University’s nationally recognized graduate degree programs led by world-class faculty is available by calling Edinboro University’s School of Graduate Studies at (814) 732-2856 or by visiting gradschool.edinboro.edu.
