Dr. Roy Shinn, a member of Edinboro University’s faculty since 1990, has been named associate dean of EU’s College of Science and Health Professions.
Shinn, who served as interim associate dean of the college in 2016-17, will oversee programs in STEM (science/technology/engineering/mathematics), health and allied health professions.
He has served both academics and athletics as the chairperson of the Speech-Language Pathology Department and as the University’s NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative, a position he held since 2008.
Shinn is a fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, serving on the association’s Council for Clinical Certification, Board of Ethics and Council for Clinical Specialty Recognition. He co-authored “Ethics Education,” a manual for teaching professional ethics to graduate students in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
Prior to Edinboro, Dr. Shinn directed the Speech-Language Pathology program at Western Kentucky University and practiced audiology in Oklahoma and Kentucky.
Shinn earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Sensory Disorders from Edinboro University. He earned both a master’s degree in Audiology and a Ph.D. in Hearing Science from the University of Oklahoma Health and Services Center.
