Two of Edinboro University’s graduate-level programs and three clinical concentrations were recognized among higher-education institutions as the best in the U.S.
College Choice, an online network of resources and ranking systems that researches institutions and degree programs, ranked EU’s Master of Arts in Counseling No. 20 among the Top 25 Best Online Master’s in Clinical Psychology Degrees for 2017. Also noted in the rankings were concentrations of Art Therapy, Clinical Rehabilitation and Clinical Mental Health.
Additionally, EU’s Master of Education in Educational Psychology earned the No. 29 spot on College Choice’s Top 35 Best Online Master’s in Psychology Degrees for 2017.
Dr. Edward Snyder, head of the Educational Psychology program at EU, said that the School Psychology program received accreditation and conditional approval from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
“We are honored to be recognized for excellence in our program, offering a master’s level degree in Educational Psychology,” he said. “Students interested in becoming certified school psychologists should apply directly to the school psychology program.”
Edinboro’s Master of Arts in Counseling – which is also listed among approved programs by NASP – and the three clinical concentrations – integrate theory, research and practice in the curriculum. All concentrations in the program are accredited through the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) board. Art Therapy, the first online degree of its kind, received additional certification from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design Commission.
Each Master of Arts in Counseling program features a 60-credit curriculum with core courses in counseling theory and practice. Educational Psychology, which is designed for students wishing to learn more about evaluation and research, offers a 30-credit curriculum.
Rankings for the Top 25 Best Online Master’s in Clinical Psychology Degrees are based on student data regarding reputation, cost and graduate salary. College Choice also draws from U.S. News & World Report, the National Center for Education Statistics and PayScale – a salary-comparison website.
College Choice recognized EU’s Educational Psychology program for its course offerings in learning theories, crisis management and violence prevention, statistical methods in education, foundations of literacy and disabilities.
EU’s program was credited for the flexibility of online programming, which allows students to attend school and maintain full-time employment.
Edinboro’s counseling programs and clinical concentrations have traditionally earned national recognition for practical application and affordability. Recently, Best Counseling Degrees recognized EU’s Master of Education in Educational Psychology as the nation’s No. 6 most-affordable program in School Counseling.
Master of Arts in School Counseling earned the No. 13 ranking in the list of Top 25 Low-Cost Online Master’s Degrees in School Counseling 2017 and the No. 28 spot on the list of 50 Best Low-Cost Online Master’s in Counseling Programs for 2016-2017.
