Dedication Ceremony of Tree Plaque
On Friday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m., local and regional police, firefighters, members of the military and veterans were honored with a flagpole dedication ceremony at Edinboro’s new Campus Police Building. It is estimated that over Edinboro’s storied 154-year history, thousands of faculty, staff and alumni served in the U.S. Armed Forces, and as members of police, firefighting or other emergency response organizations. Dr. Philip Ginnetti, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, presided over Friday’s flagpole and building dedication ceremony and presented a plague – honoring all those who served and continue to serve – that was installed beneath the flagpole. Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Marshall Piccinini, himself a military veteran, delivered the keynote address during the dedication ceremony. Piccinini, in addition to his current government service in Erie, served as a captain in the U.S. Army from 1990 to 1998.
