AAS in Aeronautical Science Program

The Associate of Applied Science in Aeronautical Science program represents a collaborative effort by Porreco College and North Coast Flight School to offer a new degree program with scholarship support from the Erie Airport Authority. The program emphasizes courses that prepare graduates for careers in aviation as professional pilots. The new program will prepare area residents for highly in-demand jobs and help to address a growing shortage of qualified pilots.

The AAS in Aeronautical Science Program was developed in close consultation with FAA certified North Coast Flight School, located at the Erie International Airport, which provides the ground and flight school training for the program. Ground and flight training have additional associated costs. Alternatively, this training may be satisfied by possession of a current license or certification at the appropriate level.

AAS program graduates gain knowledge through taking applicable general education and major courses such as writing, math, physics, communications, ethics, meteorology, and more.

Graduates of the program will earn the following: Private Pilot License, Complex Endorsement, Instrument Pilot Rating, and Commercial Pilot License.

Students who have completed the program may pursue pilot positions in the commercial industry (non-passenger), as a private charter pilot, or flight instructor.
