Office of University Advancement
From our founding in 1857 as a training academy for teachers to today, as a leader in preparing students for outstanding careers in art and animation, social work, forensic science and many other fields, Edinboro University has always been a community of scholars and students committed to excellence.
We pride ourselves on evolving and growing to meet the needs of our students and the region in each new generation. We can only do this through the generous support of alumni, parents and friends who share our values and mission. Today we seek support for a variety of key programs and initiatives that will keep EU and its students on the forefront of education. Please consider a gift to one of the following:
The Annual Fund is the foundation of the University’s advancement program. Its mission is to raise unrestricted and designated funds to support the greatest areas of need. As state support for higher education steadily declines, private support is increasingly important to making a lifelong difference for students and sustaining the strength and impact of an Edinboro education.
More than 85% of Edinboro students utilize some form of financial aid, including grants, loans and scholarships. In addition to helping to defray costs, a scholarship communicates to the student that the community has invested in his or her future. Our goal is to grow our endowment so that we might offer scholarships to all deserving students. Transforming lives is at the heart of what we do at Edinboro University, and we invite you to share in an individual student’s achievement.
The Edinboro University Department of Athletics strives for continued excellence as it develops the leadership abilities of student-athletes. We accomplish this in an environment that unites intercollegiate athletics competition with a focus on academic excellence, sportsmanship and community service.
Our biggest challenge remains raising scholarship dollars for our student-athletes to keep their education affordable. Providing financial support for our student-athletes is essential to their success in and out of the classroom.
For high-achieving students, the Honors Program provides challenges necessary to stay motivated and stimulated and to make the most of their higher education. Our Honors Program has grown from fewer than 70 students to more than 200 bright and talented individuals, but the number of scholarships available is limited. Our goal is to increase the Honors Program endowment so exceptional students can pursue their passion for learning, including study-away opportunities, research, leadership experiences and conference presentations.
Studying abroad, conducting research, participating in internships and other hands-on learning opportunities have a tremendous impact on students’ education. These experiences can lead to improved writing, critical thinking and academic performance. Edinboro is committed, with your assistance, to providing all students with the best tools – in and outside the classroom – to succeed.
The Women’s Philanthropy Council (WPC) is dedicated to furthering the role of women as leaders and active participants in Edinboro University and our community. It brings women together as leaders and change agents, providing connections, learning experiences and – most importantly – opportunities to change lives through EU. Some of the exciting ways the WPC effects change is through its student mentorship program and annual research grant, study-away scholarship and endowment.
Edinboro strives to provide first-class facilities in which our students can learn at both its Edinboro and Erie campuses. As the Porreco campus continues to grow at a record pace, new lab equipment, buildings and other needs are being met through the generosity of private support.
