Master of Social Work Partial Tuition Waiver FAQs

On Campus MSW Program

To make the cost of attending the face-to-face courses in the MSW program more comparable to online courses, Edinboro University’s School of Graduate Studies has implemented pilot program where a partial tuition waiver of $625.00* per on campus course is being offered. If all eight available face-to-face courses are taken in the two-year program, the total waiver will be $5000.00.

Students enrolled in the MSW On-Campus 2-year program starting in Fall 2019, Fall 2020, or Fall 2021 as full-time (≥ 9 credits per semester) and taking face-to-face courses are eligible.

Students enrolled in the MSW Advanced Standing program starting in Summer 2019, Summer 2020, or Summer 2021 as full-time (≥ 9 credits per semester), and taking face-to-face courses are also eligible.

There are two (2) face-to-face courses each semester. In the Fall semester, students must be enrolled in the on-campus sections of SOWK 600 and 612 (first year students), or 717 and 795 (second year and advanced standing students) to receive the partial tuition waiver. The Spring semester courses are SOWK 604 and 613 (first year students) and SOWK 719 and 742 (second year and advanced standing students).

That’s okay! Students only have to commit to being on campus one day per week – Tuesdays – to take the on campus courses. The first course starts at 11:00 am, and the second course starts at 3:00 pm.

Students are eligible to receive up to a total of $5000.00 over the 2-year, full-time, MSW program. Each on campus course completed by a student is eligible for a $625.00* waiver.

The waiver will be credited to the student’s Edinboro account after the add/drop period ends on Monday, August 30, 2021. In subsequent semesters, the waiver will be posted the day after the add/drop period ends.

Part-time graduate assistants are eligible for the partial tuition waiver program. Full-time graduate assistants are ineligible.

This pilot program has been approved through Spring 2022, therefore delays in registration beyond that time are not guaranteed, and the student risks loss of the waiver.

*Rate based on 2018-2019 tuition and is fixed for the duration of the pilot program.

Field Experience for Non-Pennsylvania Residents

Although out-of-state MSW students in the online program have enjoyed tuition at 110% of the in-state rate for didactic courses, the field experience courses were not covered and thus a much higher rate. This promotion will reduce that to the same tuition rate as the didactic courses.

From Fall 2019 through Summer 2022, non-Pennsylvania residents who are enrolled full-time (≥ 9 credits/semester) in the MSW program (traditional or advanced standing) and taking didactic courses online, will receive the partial tuition waiver for SOWK 622, 623, 722, and 723.

MSW students in the traditional two-year program enroll in field experience four times for a total of 12 credits. The partial tuition waiver reduces tuition and fees for field experience courses by $206 per credit or $618 per field experience course for eligible students. Therefore students who enroll in field experience four times would receive a total tuition waiver of nearly $2,500 while earning their MSW degree.
