Bachelor of Science | College of Science and Health Professions
Edinboro University

The Earth is calling. Will you answer?

As a professional geologist you will explore and study some of the most unique places and pressing problems on earth.

When you look at the Earth, what do you see? If you’re a geologist, you see a dynamic planet filled with the energy and the raw materials necessary for modern life. But you also see a fragile planet whose delicate environmental balance can be easily upset. With a Bachelor of Science in Geology, you will graduate with a thorough knowledge of the Earth, its natural resources, environment and climate. With the skills you obtain as a Geology major, you will be prepared for a variety of careers that tackle the challenges of today’s world, including jobs in oil and gas, alternative energy, water resources, environmental and climate science.

While you’re at Edinboro, you’ll learn from the best. Our faculty are teachers first and foremost. But they also research fascinating topics that range from new fossil lobster species, glacial geology, applied geophysics, water resources, environmental geology and local lake-effect snow. They serve as mentors and guides, helping you select field work that will set you apart, whether it’s at nearby French Creek, the Colorado Plateau or our own Howard Falls field station.
