Innovative Nursing

Bachelor of Science in Nursing | College of Science and Health Professions
Edinboro University

Already have a college degree? Earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in three semesters.

If you’re looking for a career that’s both challenging and satisfying, welcome to the world of nursing. Whatever degree you already hold will be a valuable resource for you. Whether you studied the arts, science or business, you can put your knowledge to work as you learn how to assess a patient’s needs and work with other members of the healthcare team to coordinate care.

Edinboro’s Innovative Nursing program is an intense, three-semester commitment. It requires daily class and rigorous clinical activity throughout all three semesters. Since you already have all of your general education credits, you’ll focus on professional nursing courses and clinical learning experiences. Upon completion of the program, you’ll receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and be eligible to take the NCLEX Examination for licensure to work as a Registered Nurse (RN).

The job outlook is excellent. Registered nurses will be in high demand for the foreseeable future. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says this is due to a number of reasons, including an increased emphasis on preventative care, the growing number of chronic conditions such as diabetes and obesity and the demand for more healthcare services as Americans live longer lives.

Expert Faculty

Accomplished faculty instruct, guide, and inspire Edinboro students to achieve and lead. EU faculty are recognized for their commitment to student success and creating a personal and engaging academic environment.

Experiential Learning

The Edinboro experience extends well beyond the classroom. EU students prepare for careers and life through opportunities for hands-on learning, collaborative research with faculty, global travel, and internships.

Modern Facilities

Fighting Scots live, work, and play in state-of-the-art facilities on EU’s picturesque 585-acre campus. Located just 20 miles south of Erie, Pennsylvania’s fourth-largest city, Edinboro is bustling with exciting activities.

Use your skills and compassion to make a difference.

Our Nursing students consistently exceed the state and national average on NCLEX licensure success rates. In fact, the pass rate for 2016 graduates was 94.74%. 100% of our Nursing graduates secure full-time positions, mostly in acute care facilities. Employers praise their strong skills and professional behavior.

Experience starts right here.

Every nurse needs to spend time in the classroom, but nothing compares to real patient care experiences. At Edinboro, you’ll have many opportunities for hands-on learning that coincides with your academic coursework. Here are a few ways you’ll get valuable patient experience:

Summer nurse internships allow you to stay engaged in nursing over the summer, hone your skills and knowledge and initiate a relationship with a future employer.

Simulation labs provide a risk-free environment to assess your skills and knowledge on frequent-care scenarios and to prepare you for high-risk scenarios you might not experience as a student in the clinical setting.

Clinical rotations with partnering healthcare organizations.

Think beyond the BSN.

There has never been a more exciting time to be a nurse. The field is wide open with a variety of jobs and specialties that allow you to challenge yourself and pursue your professional interests in many unique settings. But you don’t have to stop with your bachelor’s degree. A significant number of our graduates choose to go on to graduate school or post-graduate certification programs, which open the doors to even more possibilities: nurse practitioner, certified registered-nurse anesthetist, nurse educator, clinical nurse specialist, nurse manager and nursing informatics specialist.
