Edinboro University’s Master of Education in Reading is designed to prepare pre-service or experienced teachers with effective, research-based instructional techniques in teaching students to read and write successfully.

This professional training extends beyond the development of basic literacy skills to the empowerment of highly qualified educators. Gaining expertise in diagnostics, interventions and experiences to assist striving readers and writers, our program is designed to inspire future reading specialists.

Hands-On Experience.
Our faculty recognize the importance of community and hands-on experience in the development of teachers. Students spend a week alongside faculty working with striving readers during the summer Reading Clinic.

Expert Faculty.
Accomplished faculty instruct, guide and inspire Edinboro students to achieve and lead. Our faculty are recognized for their commitment to student success and creating a personal and engaging academic environment.

Reading Specialist Certification.
Our program prepares students for certification as a reading specialist (upon passing the PRAXIS exam). This 27-credit program helps graduates diagnose and help children overcome reading disabilities, as well as promoting developmental and interventional reading practices in schools.
