The support of faculty in the Math department encouraged me to pursue an advanced degree in Mathematics. This allowed me to begin teaching in the mathematics department at Penn State Behrend and opened doors to the completion of my doctorate in mathematics education. Without the support and encouragement of the faculty at Edinboro, these are avenues I may have never explored.
What I enjoyed the most about the faculty is their willingness to go above and beyond for their students, through use of office hours, study tables and even staying after class to answer student inquiries. I have developed the skills and knowledge necessary to further my career in mathematics. I can proudly say that Edinboro’s Math Department fully prepared me for my graduate level studies.
The variety of professors from different areas of mathematics allows you to explore topics in applied and theoretical mathematics as well as mathematics education. Gaining experience through the variety of classes, exploring and presenting undergraduate research, and working in the department set me above others as I entered my graduate career.

I wasn’t sure what to do with a math degree besides teach seventh- through 12th-graders. But Dr. Quinn connected me with Larson Texts for an internship that turned into the start of my career. Now that I work at Penn State, I realize that I can use my degree, knowledge and experience to be a mathematician, a project manager or in many other roles.
