The Department of Nursing prepares professional nurses at the baccalaureate, master's and doctoral levels to meet the healthcare needs of individuals, families, groups and communities. Through professional nursing courses and clinical learning experiences, students learn to treat human responses to health and illness through the application of scientific knowledge.
A highly qualified faculty fosters personal development, critical thinking, ethical decision-making, the appreciation of values and cultures, the acquisition of domain-specific nursing knowledge, and socialization into the roles of the professional and advanced practice nurse. Graduates of the Department emerge ready to pass their licensure and certification examinations and to function as professional nurses in a variety of healthcare settings. The NCLEX-RN pass rate for May 2015 graduates was 97.44%.

Edinboro University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice degree prepares advanced practice nurses for rising standards in the field. The online, part-time program offers specialty electives in advanced clinical practice and clinical nursing education.
The Master of Science in Nursing program is co-sponsored by Clarion and Edinboro Universities with a concentration area in family nurse practitioner (FNP). U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 Best Colleges ranks Clarion and Edinboro’s online nursing program among the Best Online Graduate Programs.
The Innovative Nursing program is a pre-licensure program designed for students with a baccalaureate degree in another field who wish to study for a B.S. in Nursing (BSN) degree. This is an intense 15-month program which requires daily attendance in either a classroom or clinical experience. The successful graduate is eligible to write the NCLEX examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
This is a four year program, for first time students that combine professional nursing courses and clinical learning experiences as well as general education requirements. At the completion of this program students receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and are eligible to write the NCLEX examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Graduates of the program are prepared to function as professional nurses in a variety of health care settings.
