Jobs & Internships

Social Work

If you are a Social Work student at PennWest Edinboro, you can build your personal and professional networks while you prepare for professional work through valuable internships and rewarding job opportunities.

Internships

At PennWest Edinboro, we recognize that experiential learning is a valuable tool in helping students to make career decisions and in complementing formal classroom learning.

Providing excellent internship experience opportunities is a priority for the University, and the stories of student success in the workplace have been overwhelming. MSW students enjoy Field Education Internships that are individually matched with an agency setting in their field of interest and within their respective commuting distance.

Edinboro Social Work students have interned at Erie Family Center, GECAC Drug and Alcohol and Area Agency on Aging, Mental Health Association, Center for Family Services, Hispanic American Council, Sarah Reed Children’s Center and Retirement Center, Erie City School District, Millcreek Community Hospital, Crawford County Hospice Brighter Horizons Behavioral Health, Youth Advocate Program and many other locations across the country.

The Social Work Department provides valuable resources by building new community partnerships and further cultivating those that exist. Among these are our collaborations with George Junior Republic, one of the country’s largest, private, nonprofit residential treatment communities for at-risk youth; and our partnership in Hawaii where we address the training needs of bachelor level practitioners who have reached out to our department for consultation and curriculum support.

Students are encouraged to contact the Social Work Department internship coordinators for consultation and more information.
