I have accepted a full-time offer from Fairway Wealth Management in Cleveland. Fairway is one of Ohio's largest fee-only, independent, fiduciary-style wealth management firms. I will serve as an associate wealth manager.
Like many others, financial planning and accounting was not the major that I came in with, but I am so thankful that I discovered the Personal Financial Planning major here at Edinboro. I was originally only a Finance major, and after about a year or so, I added Accounting because the classes meshed very well and I could better stand out in a stack of resumes.
I chose to be a financial adviser because you get the opportunity to make a positive impact in someone's life every single day. You get the opportunity to build relationships with individuals and help them with their financial future. Personal finances can be difficult and stressful, which is why the future job outlook for this industry is huge.
The faculty members for Edinboro’s financial planning program are superb and go above and beyond. Dr. Mike Engdahl and Dr. Shaun Pfeiffer are truly terrific professors. My family and friends have been there the entire time and I am so grateful for them. My best friend was also in the program, so it was nice to compete with and push each other to be better every day.
Because of my thorough education at Edinboro, I was able to land two in-field internships before I graduated, which helped me to land my first full-time job. Edinboro's CFP Board Registered Program was the deciding factor that set me apart from any other job applicant. Immediately following graduation, I will be able to sit for the CFP Exam to become a Certified Financial Planner (a professional in the field) because of the certified program.
I believe the small class sizes at Edinboro allowed for further explanation and one-on-one time with my professors. At Edinboro, I was able to attend national conferences every year where I connected with some of the leading individuals in the industry. Edinboro gave me the knowledge and skills that I needed to flourish as a financial adviser.
I plan to sit for the CFP Exam to become a Certified Financial Planner. I would like to move up in the ranks at my current company and soak in all their knowledge. I would like to eventually attain my master’s degree in financial planning and raise a family.
