Summer Financial Aid

Application Process

Receiving Summer aid could have an impact on the amount of aid you are eligible to receive in the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 Semesters.

To apply for Summer financial aid, the following is required:

  1. Complete the 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
    • Allow 5-7 business days after submitting your FAFSA.

  2. Complete all outstanding Financial Aid Requirements.
    • You may check the status of your requirements in the online University portal. Failure to complete will delay the processing of your aid.

  3. Enrolled in a degree-seeking program and be taking credits that count towards your Course Program of Study (CPOS).
    • To receive federal loans, see the enrollment requirements listed below for your program.

  4. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
    • Students who fail to meet Satisfactory Academic Progressstandards after the Spring 2022 semester grades have been posted may delay the processing of your request or result in the cancellation of any estimated aid.

  5. Review available aid programs below for any additional aid-specific requirements.

Enrollment

The University defines full-time enrollment for the Summer as 12 credits for undergraduate students and 9 credits for graduate students for the entire Summer session.

To be eligible for a Summer Federal Direct Loan, you must maintain an enrollment status of at least a half-time basis of CPOS credits (or more) throughout the Summer session.  Therefore, students enrolled in half of the above hours (Undergraduate=6 / Graduate=4.5) will be considered for a loan, assuming all other eligibility requirements are met.  Summer sessions can be combined to meet the minimum requirements.

Graduate students taking all undergraduate classes will be treated as undergraduate students and must be in at least 6 credits.
