          EU seeks nominations for Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. Joseph Laythe awards

          Nominations from the community are being sought for the Martin Luther King Jr. Award, which is presented annually by Edinboro University to recognize an individual whose life and work carry on the legacy of the late civil rights leader.

          The public is encouraged to nominate community leaders who exemplify King’s spirit, philosophy and teachings for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award. Since it was originated in 1997, the award has honored dozens of prominent citizens in northwestern Pennsylvania.

          To be eligible for consideration, nominations must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9. The award will be presented at a luncheon in February.
