Edinboro University’s graduate-level counseling program – which offers five unique academic tracks – recently received the No. 21 national ranking among the 25 Best Online Master’s in Counseling for 2021, as chosen by Best Masters Degrees.

The academic metrics agency validated Edinboro’s quality curriculum, flexibility of course offerings and faculty expertise in the Art Therapy, Clinical Mental Health, College Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation and Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling emphases.

“Quality of life and enhanced mental health are two capacities in which we can never take for granted,” said Dr. Erinn Lake, executive director of Edinboro’s School of Graduate Studies. “To be considered among the best graduate schools for preparing future counselors – who address these two areas personally and professionally – is an outstanding recognition for our program.”

Best Master’s Programs editors selected the best online counseling master’s programs from accredited, trusted colleges and universities offering fully online and hybrid master’s degrees. These institutions are ranked according to factors including cost, reputation and salary potential from Niche and Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) data.

Edinboro ranks among some of the top higher-education institutions across the U.S. The Top 5 schools on the Best Master’s Programs list include North Carolina State University, University at Buffalo, San Diego State University, Wake Forest University and West Virginia University.

Edinboro University’s online master’s degree programs in counseling seek to integrate research, theory and practice into the program and to prepare degree candidates for many occupations in the human services industry.

In 2018, Edinboro University’s Master of Arts in Counseling – Art Therapy program was granted the nation’s first standard-compliant accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Art Therapy Education.

Students and faculty of Edinboro’s Clinical Mental Health Program are a diverse community of learners collaboratively engaged in research, scholarship, leadership and service. Faculty are committed to providing didactic and experiential learning experiences to educate counselors to be effective clinical practitioners in a pluralistic community

Clinical Rehabilitation and Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a rewarding profession that assists persons with physical, cognitive, neurological, mental and emotional disabilities to fully develop their personal, social, interpersonal and vocational potentials.

Edinboro’s School Counseling program ensures that graduates can help guide students through all the opportunity and challenges they face. Program graduates will be competent professional counselors, with knowledge of ethics, theory, clinical skills and school counselor roles and functions.

Edinboro offers a diverse set of programs that allow graduates to make a difference in someone’s life in a wide variety of ways. With accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), Edinboro’s programs are nationally recognized and several degrees can be earned entirely online.
