Edinboro University received the top national ranking for Master of Fine Arts degrees, based on tuition, median salaries and achievement, sourced from the U.S. Department of Education.
This month, GradReports (formerly SR Education Group), a college outcomes-based ranking tool for prospective students, granted Edinboro the No. 1 position in the 25 Best MFA Programs 2020 list. The most affordable institution with the highest median salary of graduates, Edinboro beat out the New School, Duke University, George Washington University and the School of Visual Arts for the Top Five.
“This ranking among top-caliber art programs in the country really speaks volumes of Edinboro’s faculty and students for their commitment to grow as artists and educators,” said Jim Parlin, chairperson of Edinboro University’s Art Department. “To confirm that our program is significantly affordable and that our graduates find successful work and careers is truly a special moment for us at Edinboro.”
The 25 schools on the GradReports list offer the top MFA in Fine Arts degrees, based on median salary one year after graduation.
Edinboro University’s on-campus MFA programs are offered at a fees and tuition rate of $740 per credit hour for Pennsylvania students and $1,079 for non-PA and international students. Students may also choose to study programming online or in hybrid format.

In the GradReports study, program data – including available degrees and details about program coursework – were collected from official school websites, reflecting data for the 2019-2020 school year.
Median salary and median debt were collected from the U.S. Department of Education via the College Scorecard website. These data were published in November 2019 and reflect median debt and median salary for graduates one year out of college.
Tuition data were collected from the National Center for Education Statistics.
