The manufacturing technology associate degree program has expanded the base of equipment available for physics majors, and the 3-2 engineering program creates crossover between physics and engineering for a unique blend of physics, applied physics, and engineering.

No matter which major you choose, the department emphasizes small class sizes for personalized attention and assistance.

The department has a unique arrangement with Penn State's prestigious Engineering Science and Mechanics Department. Edinboro physics majors are eligible for paid summer internships and graduate school assistantships.

Learning Opportunities
The department has dedicated study space with library resources, computer resources, and tutoring for physics students. 

The Department maintains an observatory on the roof of Cooper Hall. The observatory has a Celestron EdgeHD 1400 telescope which can be outfitted with a main imaging CCD camera and/or a high resolution spectrograph. The observatory also has an exterior viewing deck and several smaller telescopes available.

Graduate School
Nearly 100 percent of our graduates have been accepted to graduate schools and received assistantships.

Successful Alumni
Edinboro graduates are enjoying careers all over the world with such employers as: Lockheed Martin, Washington University, Department of Defense, NASA, National City, Henry Ford College, and the U.S. Patent Office.

Graduates of the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program are employed with Amatech/Polycel LLC, Starn Tool, Lord Corporation, General Electric, the Pa. Department of Transportation, Maloney Tool and Mold, and Carolina Systems.

The department is working on development of a computational physics track which will take the students beyond theoretical or experimental physics. In addition, grant funding has been secured to develop a materials testing laboratory for materials research, teaching and community outreach projects.

Several courses utilize the department's astronomical observatory which boasts a Celestron EdgeHD 1400 telescope and several smaller telescopes.
