This is the fifth year that Edinboro University of Pennsylvania has hosted this summer camp.
Edinboro is proud to have one of the top wheelchair athletic programs in the country and would to like to invite anyone interested in gaining knowledge and skill in basketball to attend our summer camp.
The Wheelchair Basketball camp is open to all youth ages 14-18 who have a permanent physical disability. Participants must have their own chair and whatever other equipment they need to participate in the sport of wheelchair basketball. If you are in need of a basketball chair to participate in this camp, please let us know ASAP and we will try to accommodate you.
The total camp cost is $325 and includes meals, housing, insurance, t-shirt and jersey. This camp will offer 2 separate curriculums: a novice track and an advanced track.
The director of the basketball camp will be Jim Glatch. Jim is in his 10th year here at Edinboro. Camp will also have staff members who are very knowledgeable and skillful within the sport. All of the staff members have played or coached wheelchair basketball.
Three meals a day will be provided through the Edinboro University dining services (included in price of camp).
Campers will be staying on the first floor of Scranton Hall. This hall is wheelchair accessible. Please specify at the bottom of your application if you have a roommate preference.
Insurance for the camp will be provided through the Wheelchair Sports USA (WSUSA). Coverage is limited to $1,000,000 per camper.
Check in for the Wheelchair Basketball Camp will be July 31th at Scranton Hall between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
Pick up will time will be July 19th between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
About three weeks before the start of camp, campers will receive detailed information on what they are to bring.
Edinboro University's campus is protected by a police force which is on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Campers will also receive a list of telephone numbers so they know whom to call in case of an emergency. Several members of the camp staff will also be staying in the dorms with the campers so they can supervise the campers at all times.
