- College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences strives to fulfill the University’s Mission in a manner reflective of our diverse disciplines by providing excellent academic programs through instruction, student engagement, and the creation and application of scholarship to effectively meet the needs of our region.
The traditional role of the liberal arts is to prepare students to be successful contributors to their communities and responsible global citizens. Higher education is also seen by many as a path to a fulfilling career, which requires individuals who can think critically, solve problems creatively, work cooperatively in teams, and communicate well through the written and spoken word. The College is committed to imparting these skills not only to students who pursue degrees in the liberal arts and social sciences, but also to the many other students who take courses in the College on their way to degrees in other disciplines.
The College includes a School of Visual and Performing Arts, comprised of the Art and Music Departments, which recognizes the importance of the arts at Edinboro University and creates a separate identity. The focus is on program and enrollment growth, within the parameters of the University-wide focus on excellence and student success.
