Checking into the Halls

New students and families may begin to arrive to campus after 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010.  Arrival may be a bit hectic and we do everything possible to prepare for a smooth transition.  We ask the following of our students and their families to be prepared for check-in:

  • Room keys are picked-up at the assigned residence hall;
  • Pack so that your vehicle can easily be unloaded;
  • Mark any boxes with your room number;
  • Prepare to drop your items in proximity to the residence hall and then move your vehicle to a long term parking location;
  • Respect others by parking in approved locations, for safety reasons no parking is permitted on sidewalks; and
  • Be sure that the student has all meningitis vaccine information, emergency contact information, and ID ready to get their room key.

THE PARENTS AND FAMILIES ORGANIZATION

At Edinboro University, we value the involvement of parents and family members of our students as essential contributors to student achievement and success.  We strive to keep the lines of communication open and to engage family members in campus events, promote fellowship among families, and explore opportunities for networking and stewardship to further support student opportunities and  success.

We also encourage your student to become fully involved in campus life and the opportunities that are available. Because students share their concerns with family members, especially early on in their college experience, the feedback from parents and families is invaluable.  By sharing information and opening the lines of communication with parents and family members and by encouraging them to become familiar with our campus and resources, we are better able to serve all of our students.

The Organization (PFO)

Purpose: To promote positive parent and family associations with the University and to provide a forum for the expression of parent and family views and suggestions.

Goals

-  to value the contributions of parents and family members in support of their students and the University

 -  to provide an advocacy and a communication link between the University, present and future students, and their parents and family members

 -  to encourage members of the Parents and Families Organization to serve as goodwill ambassadors for the University

Who may be members?   All parents and family members of students currently enrolled are automatically members of the organization. Activities are planned and organized by a small steering committee of volunteers.  Those who continue to show an interest after their family member has graduated may remain a part of the organization.
