Edinboro University Archives
University Archives material includes documents and other items produced by the University Offices or by people or entities related to the University. This is a collection of non-current materials such as minutes, publications, self-studies, papers of retired faculty members and so on. Holdings of the University Archive can be searched by clicking here.
In the Digital Reading Room, a number of research materials can be viewed in their entirety. This includes minutes of the Council of Trustees minutes, historic catalogs, student handbooks, annual reports of the presidents and more. The collection also includes popular items such as yearbooks, catalogs and student newspapers. These three are also available on microfilm in the reference area.
Genealogical research material is limited. Some brief information may be found on former students and employees. The resources of the University Archives do not adequately cover former residents of Edinboro or Erie County. The library has U.S. Census covering Erie, Warren and Crawford County for the years 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880. These are available in the reference area.
University Offices wishing to transfer materials to the archive are encouraged to check their record retention schedule before making any decisions on what to discard and what to save. Some guidance is provided in the archive catalog under the heading of “record retention schedule.”
