Hours of Operation:
To participate in the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony, you must have indicated on your Online Graduation Application that you plan to attend the ceremony. Please see the Graduation Checklist to verify that you have completed the necessary steps.
The Undergraduate Student Commencement Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, in McComb Fieldhouse. Doors will open for guests at 8:30 a.m. The ceremony will last approximately two-and-a-half hours. Students attending the December Commencement need to report to the McComb Fieldhouse no later than 9:15 to find their seat.
You must arrive at the Pogue Student Center - Lower Level NO LATER THAN 9 a.m. Weather permitting; we will include the degree candidates in the processional. You should report to Pogue Student Center (not the Fieldhouse) to be arranged in line for the processional.
Academic attire is black for all Associate and Bachelor’s degree candidates. The tassel is to be worn on the right side of the cap. Academic attire will be available for purchase at the Graduation Fair. If you have questions regarding academic attire, please contact the University Bookstore at (814) 732-2456.
Commencement tickets will be available for pick-up at the Graduation Fair with a valid photo ID. Each student will be given four (4) tickets to the McComb Fieldhouse Ceremony. If you are unable to attend the Graduation Fair, tickets will be available for pick-up after Thursday, Nov. 16th in the Office of Records and Registration in Hamilton Hall from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be mailed by contacting the Office of Records and Registration at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (814)732-3501.
The Undergraduate Student Commencement Ceremony will be held in McComb Fieldhouse. All guests are required to have a ticket to this site. Degree candidates will be admitted without a ticket provided they are wearing their cap and gown.
A limited number of extra tickets may be available. The number of additional tickets is expected to be small, while the requests are expected to be many. If you do not receive additional tickets with your seating assignment, we were unable to honor your request.
We reserve the bottom three rows for individuals who are unable to climb the bleachers. We ask those who are capable of climbing the bleachers NOT to sit in this area. Although these sections are reserved, the INDIVIDUAL SEATS are NOT, and we cannot guarantee availability of these seats. If your guests want to be seated in this area, they must arrive early in order to obtain seating in the bottom rows.
Recognizing that students may wish to have additional guests attend the Undergraduate Student Commencement Ceremony or have guests who are unable to manage bleacher-style seating, the University has arranged for an alternate viewing site at the Pogue Student Center. The ceremony will be broadcast live at the student center. This is the preferred viewing location for guests with health considerations who would benefit from a temperature controlled environment, guests who are accompanied by young children, and guests with physical limitations. This is a non-ticketed site and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
A limited number of assistive listening devices are available for the hearing impaired and can be obtained at the Information Center in the lobby of the McComb Fieldhouse on commencement day.
Edinboro University will feature a 10-second video introduction of you-given-by-you. The video introduction will appear on the large screen as you walk to the podium to receive your diploma.
Graduates will receive a diploma cover at the Commencement Ceremony. Actual diplomas will be mailed to graduates after degrees are conferred, approximately four weeks after grades are posted. Please note that students must have all financial obligations to EU satisfied before their diploma will be released
Graduates will be photographed as they receive their diplomas and again as they descend the ramp from the stage. If students, family members or friends wish, they may purchase copies of these photographs from Grad Images, or 1-800-261-2576. Students will be contacted directly by Grad Images regarding the photos.
The Commencement Ceremony will be webcast and available for viewing on Edinboro’s website for individuals who are not able to attend the ceremony. The live video stream will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Commencement day. DVDs of the Commencement Ceremony will be available for purchase through Edinboro television (ETV). Go to
www.eupdvd.com to preorder.
Guests may take pictures or videos from their seats in the bleachers.
You can pre-order flowers or purchase them the day of Commencement in the lobby of the McComb Fieldhouse.
