The Edinboro Highland Games is a cultural and educational festival that serves as a signature event for Edinboro University. Select a package at this link or contact the festival director, Tim Thompson at 814-732-2162 or firstname.lastname@example.org to develop your own.
Edinboro University is proud of its Scottish heritage. The University and town that share the Edinboro name were founded by Scottish immigrants. Holding to its tradition, Edinboro University has a pipe band that performs alone and also with the “Spirit of the Scots” marching band for school-related functions. Each year, Edinboro hosts a three-day Highland Games & Scottish Festival, complete with Scottish games, dancing, bagpipe bands, food and other competitions. The University’s fight song is a unique version of “Scotland the Brave.”
The family of Colonel Blair Eliot Henderson, a former Edinboro University faculty member, established the Spirit of Scotland scholarship in his memory. Through the generosity of alumni, faculty and staff, the fund continues to grow. Dr. Tim Thompson, organizer of the Edinboro University Highland Games, administers the fund, and with the help of his committee, determines annual awards to students.
The scholarship fund supports students who are participating in a Scotland study-abroad experience or other student projects in Scottish Studies. Your generosity helps Support Students and Edinboro’s Proud SCOTTISH Heritage. To make a donation, complete the form online, or print a mail the PDF version.
