Overview
Every 10 years, Edinboro University undergoes a systematic evaluation or self-study as part of the re-accreditation requirements established by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). This self-study process provides an opportunity for the University Community to reflect on how well we are fulfilling our mission as an institution of higher education as outlined by the fourteen accreditation standards put forth by MSCHE. As a result of this endeavor, we anticipate being stronger and better equipped to meet the challenges and opportunities of the next decade. It is from this premise that our self-study process entitled, “Reflection and Renewal----Edinboro University” is unfolding.
FROM THE PROVOST
Welcome! This is the location that will chronicle our progress as we pursue re-accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, Edinboro University’s regional accreditor.
In the fall of 2010, we initiated the process that will culminate in our decennial self-study report, site visit, and ultimately, we trust, re-accreditation by MSCHE. We now have in place Co-chairs, a Coordinating Committee, a Steering Committee, and six Working Groups which will address the fourteen standards stipulated in the Characteristics of Excellence in Higher Education. More than seventy members of the University community are actively engaged in candid deliberation about who we are, what we do, and how we do it.
Our theme for this process – Reflection and Renewal – Edinboro University – represents the opportunity inherent in such an endeavor. I believe in this University and in the individuals within it who provide our students with a comprehensive learning experience. I welcome the opportunity to conduct a thorough self-evaluation that will allow us to establish the foundation for strategic planning to guide us for the next ten years. I am confident that the research, reflection and discussion that will be conducted over the course of the next several years will stimulate us to address the challenges we face and renew the commitment to achieve our mission.
Whether you are serving on one of the committees or working groups, providing data and other information, or participating in other ways, I look forward to collaborating with you on this journey.
