EU Shield is PennWest Edinboro's state-of-the-art emergency alert communication system, which includes a mobile web application, mass-notification system and other features. Through the app, as well as via text messages, emails, social media posts and alerts on the University website, EU Shield enables police and other officials to quickly notify our students, faculty, staff, family and friends in an emergency.
Whether it's inclement weather or an electrical problem that closes down a building, you will know instantly.
The EU Shield safety app is free and available to all through Google Play and the Apple App Store. Because it provides advanced safety features, including an emergency button and fingertip access to emergency procedures, its use is strongly encouraged.
In addition, students are also automatically enrolled to receive alerts via email and text messages. Employees who prefer text and emails can enroll by selecting the EU Shield icon in the myEdinboro launchpad.
This service is completely voluntary; you may opt out at any time. Your information is not shared with or sold to third parties.
Please note that you are responsible for messaging charges by your service provider.
EU Shield has a voice service available so alerts can be received as speech messages. To request speech message alerts, please contact the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) at 814-732-2462.
The EU Shield safety app was made possible in part through funding provided by PennWest
Edinboro Student Government Association.
