Resources & Facilities

Music and Theatre

Edinboro University students enjoy state-of the-art music facilities, located primarily in the $5 million Dr. William P. Alexander Music Center, as well as the renovated Louis C. Cole Auditorium-Memorial Hall.

Stellar Venues

An ultramodern facility designed specifically to meet the needs of Edinboro’s music programs, the Alexander Music Center houses 17 soundproofed music studios, 14 piano studios, a listening laboratory and library, classroom space and 104-seat recital hall. Opened in 2008, the Music Center provides the university’s music students with an ideal performance and learning environment.

Cole Auditorium serves as the Department’s primary large-scale performance venue. With seating for 850 and updated sound, lighting and acoustic treatments, this space is outstanding for performers and concert patrons. The attached rehearsal hall is used as an ensemble rehearsal space and classroom.

The Department also maintains computer and piano labs, and oversees the University’s theater arts area, which hosts performances in the Diebold Center for the Performing Arts, the University’s most active venue for theatrical performances. Built more than 100 years ago as a gymnasium, the Diebold Center functioned as barracks for marshaling troops and for quartering returning servicemen during World War II. In the 1950s and ‘60s it served as the University’s student union. Home to the Old Union Theatre, the Center took on its current role as a venue for performances, lectures and conferences following a renovation in the 1980s.
