If you’re a graduate student who’s interested in making contacts and gaining valuable experience while saving money, explore the many graduate assistantships available at Edinboro University. You can apply for a graduate assistantship two ways:
Approximately 120 competitive graduate assistantships are available each year. If you are a full-time student who has been accepted into a master’s degree program, you are eligible.
Assistantships are awarded by the School of Graduate Studies & Research based primarily on the recommendations of the program head. Students who are employed full-time at the University or elsewhere are ineligible. You must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible for an assistantship:
Please note: Full-time graduate assistantships cover a maximum of nine (9) credits of tuition
per semester; fees NOT included. If a graduate assistant enrolls in more than nine
(9) credits (15 credits a semester is the maximum a graduate student can schedule),
they must cover additional tuition costs at their own expense. Half-time graduate
assistants will receive a 4.5 credit waiver per semester.
Two types of Graduate Assistantships are available.
Full-time assistantships are for Fall and/or Spring semesters. Summers are not included.
Graduate assistants must be enrolled full-time, in a minimum of 9 semester hours and
a maximum of 15. Full-time assistants receive remission of course tuition but must
pay University fees. They receive a stipend of $2,025 per semester ($7.50 per hour/270
hours) and work 18 hours a week.
Half-time assistantships are for Fall and/or Spring semesters. Summers are not included. Graduate assistants must be enrolled full-time, in a minimum of 9 semester hours and a maximum of 15. Part-time graduate assistants receive remission of one-half of course tuition but must pay University fees. They receive a stipend of $1,012 per semester ($7.50 per hour/135 hours) and work 9 hours a week.
Assistantships in residential life also include a waiver of charges for a private
room in the residence hall and a telephone. A limited number of prorated assistantships
are available for the summer.

For further information, inquire with the respective Department Head. Once again, these are only a few of the many graduate assistantships available. If the position you are applying for is filled, there are plenty of other positions that you may qualify for. Positions and availability vary from year to year depending on budgetary constraints.
