The Rape Aggression Defense Program is free and teaches participants ways to increase personal safety.
The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Program offered by PennWest Edinboro is a nationally accredited program, offered at no cost to anyone who wishes to increase their own personal safety and overall awareness of rape and physical aggression in their everyday lives, whether at home or abroad. The R.A.D. Program is a 12-hour course, usually broken up into four sessions of three hours each. This format may be altered if necessary.
Participants will learn, develop and practice self-defense skills during the program,
as well as learn verbal and physical confrontational options. These skills will be
needed for practice against aggressors during four physical simulations in the final
session of the program.
Once completing the R.A.D. Program, anyone who is certified may return free of charge
to any R.A.D. Program within the nation to practice the skills. These programs are
also becoming available internationally. The international locations will also be
available to any certified person, free of charge.
