Are you ready to become a leader in tomorrow's healthcare environment? Your journey begins here. PennWest Edinboro has partnered with PennWest Clarion to provide one of the nation's best online DNP programs, designed to prepare advanced practice nurses to become leaders in their field. When you're ready to enroll, you'll apply through the PennWest Clarion website.
Our Doctor of Nursing Practice is accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate and residency programs in nursing.
PennWest University, including Clarion, California, and Edinboro campuses, will be submitting a self-study and hosting a site visit for our accrediting body, CCNE. The site visit will be on March 29-31, 2023. This serves as formal notification of the upcoming visit and provides an opportunity for third-party comments concerning the program’s qualifications for accreditation.
Written third-party comments regarding programs must be received by CCNE by no later than 21 days prior (February 27, 2022) to the first day of the scheduled on-site evaluation. Only signed comments are accepted by CCNE. CCNE shares third-party comments with members of the evaluation team prior to the visit, but at no time during the review process are these comments shared with the program. During its review of the program, the evaluation team considers third-party comments that relate to the accreditation standards. All third-party comments submitted to CCNE must be written in English, consistent with CCNE's policy on Conduct of Business in English.
If you would like to submit a third-party comment for a program currently under review, please submit to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Or, if you prefer, mail comments to:

With a health care system that is constantly evolving, we need caregivers who are able to adapt and lead. If you are already a master's-prepared nurse, our online Doctor of Nursing Practice program will help you create a stronger, more patient-focused health care system.
This 27-credit DNP allows you to further develop your leadership skills, expand your policy expertise and understanding of population health and clinical practice.
NurseJournal.org ranks Edinboro among America's Best Nursing Programs in the East.
Our DNP program is designed to be flexible, affordable and professionally rewarding.
It is offered online on a part-time basis, so you can continue your professional practice while attending. Many students complete the program in six semesters, which includes summer courses or internships.
The curriculum builds on the foundational competencies of the MSN-prepared advance practice or professional nurse. Courses are sequenced to prepare you for increasingly complex skill sets in data acquisition, analysis and practice application that align with the American Association of the Colleges of Nursing DNP essentials.
As a student, you will be mentored by faculty who are committed to providing developmentally sound academic and clinical experiences.
You will graduate ready to lead in a variety of health care settings.
