Edinboro's School of Education is one of the top teacher preparation programs in Pennsylvania, offering undergraduate, graduate and post-master's certificates. The School is accredited through the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP), the only nationally recognized accrediting body for educator preparation programs in the U.S. and was the first institution in Pennsylvania to achieve CAEP accreditation for both initial and advanced preparation programs.
The process of becoming a certified educator in Pennsylvania is demanding, challenging and rewarding. At Edinboro, we have a legacy of excellence in preparing teachers for the rigors of the classroom and beyond. With a strong mission and vision, we are committed to producing highly qualified teachers and related professionals who effectively facilitate learning.
We guide students through the Pennsylvania Department of Education certification process; help them obtain the necessary clearances; meet candidacy, student teaching and testing requirements; and eventually gain certification.
Through knowledge, skills, dispositions, experiences, and understanding of our diverse and global society, our candidates successfully contribute to the future of their students, to their own professional development, and to the well-being of the larger community.
Through the program offerings in our four academic departments, students become fully engaged in the community and enjoy multiple opportunities for hands-on experiences in area schools, preschools, recreational facilities, and with local and regional sports teams. Our graduates, from classroom teachers, principals and superintendents to licensed counselors and athletic trainers, have gone on to rewarding careers within Pennsylvania and in many other states.
Our Academic Departments include:
