As a candidate in PennWest Edinboro's School of Education, you are required to meet specific testing requirements.

Testing Requirements

Pennsylvania requires assessment of candidates in basic skills, general knowledge, professional knowledge and subject area knowledge before a certificate may be issued. Three documents are recommended reading:

After Testing

Upon successfully passing your required tests, please keep a record of your exam scores and share them with both your advisor and the School of Education Office to keep on file. After you complete the required testing, the next step is to check your clearances, finish your courses, field work and/or student teaching and then graduate to fulfill the requirements of the PDE and obtain your teaching certification.

Please note that teaching requirements in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are constantly changing and students are advised to ensure they are staying up-to-date on the PDE's requirements by checking this website regularly.
