THE HOUSING APPLICATION WILL BE LINKED HERE ON NOVEMBER 1.

Phases of Room Selection

Log into the my.pennwest portal and find the Housing Portal under quick links.

Complete the application along with the $100 application fee.

Students who have applied for housing will need to log back in and complete the roommate selection option found in the housing portal.  You will be able to search for a specific roommate if you have someone in mind or search for a compatible roommate using the roommate search option.

Students who are participating in the first phase of retention (see below for information) are not required to select roommates.

Those participating in the second phase of retention (see below for information), must select roommates in order to pull them into the room; but are not required to fill the suite or apartment.

Students who will be participating in open selection are required to select enough roommates to fill their preferred room style.  Students who do not have roommate requests or do not have enough roommates to fill a room, will not be able to select a room until June.

Current sophomores, juniors, seniors to be graduate students can retain their room through the online app for the 2023-2024 academic year.   Current freshmen cannot retain their room unless they are in an LLC and designate that on their housing application.

This retention phase is only for students who are retaining their current room with the same roommates or no new roommate requests.  If you plan to pull in students who do not currently live in your suite or apartment DO NOT do this retention phase.  You will do the second retention phase.

STEPS:

  1. Complete the application and pay the $100 housing application service fee.
  2. Log in to select the SAME room you are in now.  You will not be able to change this space for the Fall 2023 semester if you retain your room.
  3. You are done!  If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Residence Life and Housing Office.

If rooms are not filled through any process, Residence Life  and Housing has the right to consolidate assignments to make room for empty rooms/apartments.

If your current roommates are not retaining the room/suite/apartment in which you plan to retain, you can pull-in residents to fill those vacancies. The residents that are being pulled in MUST currently live in campus housing and will have to complete the online application to sign the contract for housing to be eligible to be pulled in.

  1. STEPS:
Complete the application and pay the $100 application service fee
  2. Go through the roommate matching process. You will be able to type in specific roommate requests or search for compatible roommates through this process. EVERYONE MUST ACCEPT THE ROOMMATE REQUESTS IN ORDER TO PULL STUDENTS INTO THE SUITE OR APARTMENT.
  3. Log in to the housing portal to go through the process to select the SAME room you are in now. Your confirmed roommate requests should pull into the room with you. You will not be able to change this space for the Fall 2023 semester if you retain your room.

If rooms are not filled through any process, Residence Life and Housing has the right to consolidate assignments to make room for empty rooms/apartments.

If you are interested in one of the Living Learning Communities, you will need to complete the housing application/contract and select the community within the application.

You can retain your room in LLCs or pull-in friends that are eligible for the LLC all through the app and during the general phases of the outlined process.

If you have a roommate request, we will do our best to honor it. Your roommate(s) should follow the same steps above and list you as their preferred roommate.
